Inclusivity at immito
Pride month is a good opportunity for us all to think about all the ways we participate in and support underserved communities, including the LGBTQ+ community. immito was founded several years ago by our parent organization, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), who invests money and time in underserved communities – places other institutions may have forgotten or where they are just getting started. immito's mission within the LISC organization is to provide Small Business Loans under the SBA lending programs.
Working in underserved communities is in the immito DNA and culture. We are proud to have team members who represent many different races, origins, genders, and sexual orientations. We believe it makes us better able to work with and support our borrowers of all different backgrounds. In conjunction with LISC and our other affiliates, we have formed Cultural Affinity Groups, whose purpose is to create community, visibility and focus on different cultures. We have built our team with intention and the understanding that judgement and bias have no place in our culture.
Pride Month is the time when we particularly focus on the LGBTQ+ community. We know that it can be scary for LGBTQ+ businesses to apply for a loan. There is a lot of paperwork that represents your whole life, including who your spouse is and who you share your assets with. It is important for our borrowers to know that no matter what background they come from, they will be welcomed, and we will do all we can to provide the funding they need.
immito celebrates individuality and can’t wait to hear about your unique business.
